Recycled paper pulp and galvanized steel wire

Celebration of the Weaver is a sculpture commissioned for the lobby in a new residential complex in American Fork, Utah. Suspended from a 26-foot a-frame ceiling, the sculpture is a spherical cluster of multi-colored paper-pulp pods which make slow turns with the air current.
In Japan during the festival of Tanabata, people celebrate the fable of two celestial stars, the Weaver and her lover the Cow Herder. Paper lanterns and cranes fill the shopping malls and color and shapes swallow the streets, transforming the familiar shopping malls into enchanting arcades. Those joyful summer nights are reflected in these mobiles.
