Objects of Our Lives Exclusive Tableware Collection

I was commissioned to design and create a line of exclusive everyday ware by Objects of Our Lives, a concept store focusing on slow living and connecting artists and the community by introducing meaningful and well-crafted objects and the space to share them.

The line includes 3-piece dinnerware sets of a large plate, a small plate and a versatile bowl, as well as coffee/tea cups, cake/pie stands, espresso cups, creamers, pitchers, large serving bowls, and matcha bowls.

To accentuate the elegant contour of these matcha bowls I added a little taller foot and made the overall form more upright to stand off of the table surface. Making and drinking matcha tea is a time to pause and enjoy the color, the texture, the temperature, the taste and the company. I left the throwing rings on the exterior to enhance the tactile sensation when you are holding the bowl. The swirl at the interior center bottom works well with a bamboo brush when you make matcha in the bowl.

The satin glaze combined with the dark chocolate clay with manganese speckles adds variations of darkness, making subtle variation from piece to piece.

Dinnerware: 3-piece dinnerware for everyday use including a dinner plate, a salad/desert plate, and a soup/cereal bowl. I aimed to create the most versatile pieces that celebrate the warmth and uniqueness of handmade objects. Users can incorporate the pieces into their daily eating by themselves or with plates that users may already own. The neutral grey works well not only with colorful ingredients like beets and greens but also enhances white food items like rice and bread. It comes with a foot and can be used in both casual and dressed-up table setting.

13"diameter serving bowl finished in a milky glossy glaze contrasting with the rough texture of natural clay.

A stand for 9" diameter cakes and pies in an earthy finish in a friendly form. It is a wheel thrown dark chocolate clay, finished in satin grey on the top surface.
